My Design Process
I was given a task by my teacher to design a movie poster by using original content. The film I chose is the Tree Of Life. I went out with a SLR camera and took a number of different pictures of trees. Then I imported them to Photoshop and began designing the poster.
I have lost the original JPEG I began with so I wasn't able to include it in this blog.
I started with a tree picture and put it in the text by using clipping mask. I did this because it looks professional and stylish. Next I added a black background and the picture of the tree. I lowered its capacity because I wanted the title to stand out more than it did. Then I added some clouds around the edges of the poster to get more depth. I finished of the title by adding, 'The Tree of'. I used the same techniques as I had done before as I wanted to keep the same style. I added cast listings and a coming soon title to promote and advertise the movie, I made sure that the layout was evenly spaced. I did this by clicking and dragging the type. I went with this particular font because it looks very clear and impressive. To finish off I added a lens flare to make it look like the sun was shinning through the tree.
