Andrex Advert Analysis

         

The advert I chose to analysis is a Andrex Toilet roll advertisement. We've got a few camera  such as, a wide shot (0:01), birds eye (0:06), panning (0:10), etc. Basically the puppies run into a nicely stacked up tower of toilet roll and play/run with them. They use puppies because they are soft and cuddly just like the toilet role. This would make you want to buy it.

They used these camera angels because they wanted to set the scene in the environment. The music is catchy and creates a happy feel, also there are vocals in the music, but is only noticeable when the woman stops speaking over the top. They did this to make it less crowded and because you don't want two people talking at the same time. The target audience is for the four quadrants, but the toilet roll comes with a free puppy toy, which will make the kids want it more. The colours used in this video are very dull and basic, browns, whites and greys. Also the puppies are the same colour as the floor because they wanted to make the white toilet roll to be the main focus. Then at the end of the video we see some colour of the toilet roll in its packaging, blues and yellows. But this was added in later because you can tell its fake by its brightness and shadow. It looks very convincing because its got the correct use of refection which shines on the wooden floor. Also is shows a web address underneath this and a logo, this is for more information and to look into the product in depth.

I decided to put a twist on the classic game of chess. We added a new chess piece for each side, on the black side we had a prince, and on the white side we had a princess. We didn't want to change the rules to much because we wanted people who already play to continue playing are version, but also we wanted to attract a new audience. We decided to stick with the original black and white colour scheme because its iconic and stands out. 

There are many levels of skill that this game can be played at. It can be enjoyed by younger audiences or older players with years of experience.  The new playing piece changes the dynamic of the game in both attack and defence and follows the classic design and style of the other pieces.

If you liked normal traditional chess, then you're gonna love this even more. This is not a game of luck, this is a game of skill, patience and planning.

I liked the animation because it looked very smooth and simple. It gave us an understanding of how the pyramid scheme works. This business model is very misleading, you get very little gain from what you actually put in. Here are some examples of famous pyramid scheme:-

Avon Products, Herbalife, Juice Plus, Kleeneze, etc.

The Production Progress

The Production Progress

Every film starts of with an idea. The writers would start of with a storyline. This would be part of pre-production, as its all about planning. Producers would need to plan and look into cast/crew, money, locations, deadlines, etc. Next would be production. You would need actors, a script, camera/equipment, accommodation, etc. This would be the part of the actual filming progress.
You would need people to edit the film together and create sound. This would be post-production as this would be the last part of the film process. Examples such as foley, special effects, marketing.

The Executive producer is top of the list because they oversee the filmmaking. Then we have a producer, they are responsible for the managerial parts of making the film. The director directs people to make the film and is up to him/her to make saw everyone's doing the right thing.

Then it leads to several departments as shown on the organisation tree. Such as editing, music, sound, photography and art.

Who does what? Job Title and Roles

Executive Producer - The Bank.

Director - In control, Leader. Directs people on screen.

Producer- Makes the film happen. Funding

Writer - Comes up with the story.

Production Manager - Control things off camera, behind the scenes.

Production Coordinator - They organise the administration and secretarial duties.  

Camera crew - Deal with the equipment with the camera.

Sound Engineers - Deal with sound, Microphones, audio levels.  

Location Manager - Decides where the film will be shot.

Extras - People who are in the background, or with very little speaking parts.

Editor's - cuts up and arranges the film using various software.

Assistant Editor - They maintain editing systems, responsible for the smooth running of the cutting room.  

Composer - Creates the soundtrack/score

Make up Artists - Make people look perfect and correct.

Foley - sound done after filming, which gets added on later.

Costume Manager - Decides who makes which costume.

Costume Designers - Designs and creates the clothing

Security - Makes sure everything's under control and safe.

Drivers - Gets everyone and the equipment needed to the destination on  time.

Chefs/catering - Cooks the food so people can get through the day.

Runners - Get specific jobs to do to help out the crew, good starting job.

Electrician - Tests and sets up electronics on set.

First Aid - Health and Safety

Stuntmen - People who don't mind getting hit, punched, falling, jumping off roofs etc, (Dangerous stuff)

Pyro-technician - The person who deals with explosions, fire, sparks.

Doubles - People who look like the famous people in the production.

Actors - People who star in the film/tv show.

Assistant Managers - Provides support to the location manager, deals with logistics on location

Casting Manager - they work closely with both director and producer to assemble the perfect cast for the film.

Boom operator - they operate lifts so that lighting can be raised.

A Shell For Christmas | Short Stopmotion Film

In class today we had to create a short movie to do with light. Me and Ben chose the theme of Christmas. The story is about a lost snail who is decorating his Christmas Tree (his rock). First he decorates the rock with red, green and white lights, then he comes back with two presents and finally he puts the yellow star on top to complete the tree. Then we decided to make the film a little bit more longer, so we added a purple snail. He would steal one of the presents and run away with it. The Orange snail would run after it and get it back. The the highlight of the film is at the end when the snail opens the present and reveals a brand new snail shell. He sticks it on and runs of camera.

What I partically liked is how I managed to change the snails facial expressions in certain parts. Example of this would be when the purple snail steals one of the presents, the orange snail makes a sad face. If I could change anything it would be the speed of the film, I find its a little to fast for my liking. Also at the end, I would make the orange snail with his new shell a bit more longer, so the audience can realise what he has just opened.

Stop Motion

In class today we watched a short film about what stop motion is and the styles, benefits and difficulties of working with stop motion. I particularly liked the short clip about the man made of string on the boat and the use of fabrics to create the ocean. The man looked sad and troubled because of the colours used which were generally dull and bleak.

The difference between American and British stop motion is that American is more drawing based like disney, and British is based more around clay and models, like Walace and Gromit.
